Fantastic Four 2 Rumor Sparks Potential X Men Crossover Plans

Director Bryan Singer helped launch and then revitalize the X-Men franchise, but could he soon be doing the same for another superhero franchise? Will Bryan Singer be doing for the Fantastic Four franchise what he’s done for the X-Men films? It’s possible according to a recent rumor from the folks at This Is Infamous. According to the site’s sources, 20th Century Fox is hoping to woo Singer to helm the Fantastic Four sequel that is currently set to arrive in theaters on June 9th, 2017 with plans to launch a shared universe that will lead to a Fantastic Four and X-Men crossover movie potentially arriving in 2018. The site suggests that the studio isn’t as excited for director Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four movie, set to arrive in theaters on August 7th, as they had hoped, but it’s good enough to build on and they think Singer and producer Simon Kinberg are the perfect team to make that happen. An X-Men/Fantastic Four crossover movie has been speculated for a long time, but Kingberg has often stated that it would be difficult to do considering there has been no mention of a superhero team in the X-Men movies or acknowledgment of super-powered mutants in the Fantastic Four universe, but with Marvel dominating the market with their Cinematic Universe and DC attempting to launch their own shared universe with next year’s Batman v Superman, Fox is reportedly eager to make it happen. As for Singer’s involvement, it seems unlikely that he would attempt to tackle the Fantastic Four sequel considering he will be working on X-Men: Apocalypse until at least May 27th when the film arrives in theaters. That would leave him little time for pre-production before having to begin filming on Fantastic Four 2. A more likely scenario would be for him to sign on as a producer for the Fantastic Four sequel and help steer the film toward an X-Men crossover which some speculate could be the film that will take the July 13th, 2018 release date Fox has set for a currently Untitled Marvel film. We’ll have to wait and see if there is any credence to this rumor, but in the meantime we can look forward to Singer’s X-Men Apocalypse next year. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Singer called the film quote, “[A] kind of a conclusion of six X-Men films, yet a potential rebirth of younger, newer characters…This is the true birth of the X-Men. This is how it happens.” Singer will be at Comic-Con this week with some potential Apocalypse footage and perhaps some of these rumors will be addressed, but what do you think of Bryan Singer potentially directing Fantastic Four 2 and would you like to see a Fantastic Four/X-Men crossover movie? Channing Tatum Exiting Gambit Movie?

Production on Fox’s Gambit movie is set to begin in a couple months, but could they be losing their star? Today’s episode of Clevver Newsfeed is brought to you by T-Mobile. It looks like we could have to wait a little longer to see Channing Tatum play a superhero on the big screen. The Wrap reports that Tatum is planning to exit next year’s X-Men spinoff over issues with his deal. Though no specific details were given, individuals close to the project suggest that the studio and Tatum’s reps are still in active negotiations to work out a deal for him to stay on. Though Fox’s Comic Con panel earlier this month focused on next year’s other ¬X-Men movies, Deadpool and Apocalypse, Tatum did make a surprise appearance to help take a photo with both casts as well as Stan Lee and gave a quick tease of his Cajun accent. We told you earlier this week that the studio is fully getting behind the Gambit movie with an estimated budget of $155 million which would be the most expensive X-Men solo movie to date. The Wrap speculates that despite the film being a passion project for Tatum, his interest in moving behind the camera to direct could be the motivation for him exiting the project. Keep in mind that Tatum’s possible exit from the Gambit movie is not confirmed and should be considered rumor at this point, but if it does happen, which actor would you like see replace him? Simon Kinberg Talks Fantastic Four 2 & Taylor Swift "Dazzler" Rumor

Writer/producer Simon Kinberg hints that a Fantastic Four sequel may still be happening and clarifies those Taylor Swift “Dazzler” rumors on this episode of Clevver Newsfeed. If you’re one of the few who liked this summer’s Fantastic Four, we’ve got some good news for you. Despite overwhelmingly negative reviews and becoming one of the least successful comic book movies of all-time, Fantastic Four writer/producer Simon Kinberg reveals he’s hard at work on a sequel. While promoting his upcoming film The Martian, which he produced, at this year’s Toronto International Film Festical, Kinberg told MTV News that he’s quote, “really focused on the next one” saying that despite being disappointed most that the fans didn’t like it, he thinks there’s a great Fantastic Four movie to be made with the same cast and they are currently in the process trying to figure out what that movie would be. Fantastic Four 2 currently has a June 9th, 2017 release date, but will likely be pushed if the studio does in fact decide to move forward on a sequel. One person who doesn’t see that happening is star Kate Mara, who played “Sue Storm” in the film. Also speaking with MTV, Mara said she thinks a sequel is unlikely, but would quote, “love to play Sue Storm in a movie that everybody loves.” In a separate interview, Mara told The Times that the harsh reviews caused her to be gun-shy about even seeing Fantastic Four and despite all the reported issues, she insists she had a good time making the movie. As for those rumors that Taylor Swift would be making a cameo as the musical mutant “Dazzler” in next year’s X-Men: Apocalypse, Kinberg officially put that rumor to bed saying quote, “No, there’s nothing to it. I know where [the rumor] came from, because it’s my fault.” The rumor started back in July when Kinberg posted this pic of himself, along with Apocalypse stars James McAvoy and Sophie Turner with Swift. Kinberg explained that he was listening to Swift’s music every morning while filming Apocalypse to help him get energized and when Swift’s tour came to Montreal, where they were filming, he and some of the cast members decided to go. Swift invited them backstage and took photos with them and the rest is history. Though it sounds like we won’t be seeing Swift as “Dazzler” in next year’s X-Men Apocalypse, Kinberg did find the idea interesting, so perhaps we could see it happen sometime in the future?
